Mission Statement

The mission of the Fruitvale Center of Merritt College is to provide student services and instructional programs to give greater access to higher education and, thereby, enhance the quality of life of the residents of the Fruitvale community of East Oakland.

Through our instructional program and our bi-lingual student services we strive to provide experience and greater confidence in applying, beginning, and continuing college study at the main campus of Merritt College and other Peralta colleges.

The Merritt College Fruitvale Center is located in the heart of the Fruitvale District. The center offers student support services to continuing and prospective students who wish to enroll in classes. The target community is prospective ESL students; however, the center assists the entire student body at the Peralta Colleges with the enrollment process by providing services for admission to the college, academic counseling and course registration.

About Saturday College

Saturday College is a Merritt College program held at the Fruitvale Center. The program is designed to provide working adults with the opportunity to build the ESL, math and computer skills needed to successfully complete their academic goals.
