Child Development
Child Development Program

The Child Development Program is committed to quality training. Classes prepare students to function in a variety of early childhood programs. Perspectives on maturation, developmentally appropriate practices, and professional advancement within the childcare field receive primary concentration. Current theory and research, cultural influences, practical applications and a supervised laboratory preschool experience are connected so students will discover their most effective and unique role with children. The program enjoys the reputation of graduating sensitive, knowledgeable, caring individuals who are assets to their community make positive contributions to the well being of children and families.
The department is sensitive to the needs of working students and/or students with families. Classes are offered both day and evening, and sometimes on weekends. Summer schedules include some of the more popular classes and community requests. To further accommodate community needs, classes are regularly offered off campus at a variety of locations.
